We were very flattered to be invited to participate in the shoot for several reasons, not least of which is the fact that we’re both in our 50s! Last year’s recognition of same-sex marriage in Australia was a massively important milestone for the gay community, and especially poignant for people of David’s and my generation.
We both felt really comfortable and the art direction and photographer captured who we really are so it’s a treat to be involved with this series, we are grateful to be a part of it.
Love is so much more complex and messy than Hollywood leads us to believe. It’s great that each couple profiled has a real story to tell, full of ups and downs and twists and turns, that everyone can relate too.
Life has brought many highs and lows in the time that we’ve been together but the one constant has been our love, and that’s the thing that I can’t live without.
We met through a mutual friend, at Ryan's photography studio in Byron.
We met in Johannesburg, South Africa at my grandparents' home. A mutual friend came to visit me and brought Dean! My grandparents' home is a very special place in my heart- so it's quite amazing that of all places, we met there.
