Byron Bay, located in the far north-eastern corner of New South Wales is one of Australia’s most sought after wedding destinations. With picturesque hinterlands, idyllic beaches, the fresh produce paired with award winning chefs and exceptional accommodation options it is no wonder most of our wedding enquiries revolve around this little piece of paradise.
In our 2017 Love Story Magazine we captured one of Byron Bay’s most loved young families Influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews, Pro Surf Photographer Ryan Heywood and their first born Rocket at The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa. Quite possibly the evening of our shoot, a new addition to the family was conceived as nine months later the family welcomed beautiful Mars.
We revisited this now family of four and spent the day at Byron Bay’s Lighthouse Homestead where we spoke to Father of two Ryan about what fatherhood means to him.

Ryan, what does fatherhood mean to you?
Fatherhood is honestly the best gift ever. I feel like fatherhood has helped me learn more about myself and taught me the importance of nurturing and unconditional love.
How have Rocket and Mars changed your outlook on life?
My boys, Rocket and Mars, have really defined my life. They are the true meaning of love. They give me purpose.
What’s the best thing about being a dad?
I think being able to be a big kid with them. Playing cars, showing them how to skate and just hanging out.
What would be the perfect gift for father’s day?
The perfect gift would have to be being home with my boys. I travel so often that being home is a real treat.
A very special thank you to Ruby, Ryan, Rocket and Mars for allowing us into your ‘bubble’ and photographing you a second time.
Thank you to Tony and Isabelle Gannon from Lighthouse Homestead for such a wonderful stay.
